The Science Tech Institute has been conducting the training programmes on Demographic and Statistics methods for the health professionals including faculty of medical colleges. Over the years the feedback given by them indicates that there is a need for conducting a training programme with a special focus on statistical methods and analysis by using standard statistical software such as R/STATA/SPSS etc. R is free software and has huge user community. Therefore it is extensively used for statistical data analysis. Application of statistical software reduces the time to analyze large amount data which provides insights to the policy makers for public health. Therefore, training course on data analysis using standard Statistical Packages for Health and Demographic research is being organized for professionals engaged in research and analysis of health and demographic studies. 

General Objective

To orient the participants on data analysis and develop their skills in use of R software for health and demographic research.

Specific Objectives

At the end of the training course, the participants would be able :

1.To prepare the coding plan and create data set

2.To describe the nature of variables

3. To describe the application of R software in data analysis
4. To conduct data analysis on prepared data set by using R software

Methodology

The methodology of the course will comprise of:

• Online lecture
• participatory discussion
• Demonstrations
• Problem solving (exercises and data analysis sessions using R software).

Nature of Participants

Faculties, Residents from Medical Colleges, Nursing Colleges, SIHFW and Demographers, Statistical officers, Epidemiologist from Govt. and Pvt. organisation are eligible to apply and also all Faculty members (regular/ad-hoc/temporary/guest) from any Indian/Foreign university/college, Ph. D. research scholars and UG, PG Students of all the discipline.
